Bilingual Sikh Prayer Books for Hospitals

Prayer Books

Research carried out by the SNM team, has highlighted a significant area of need within our community. It has come to our attention that the UK has no facilities or resources for supplying inter-faith prayer books to institutes such as hospitals, prisons and probation centres.
In an effort to remedy this situation, the SNM have held a sponsored walk to raise funds and place the above scripture books in a few hospitals within Birmingham. However the SNM would like to see this project carried out nationally.

Cost per hospital: five sets of above gutkas and a framed Fundamental Prayer 125.00

Fundamental Prayer      Meal Times Prayer       Festival Song Book

The 1992 Education Act allows Sikhism to be taught in schools however very little or no resources have been allocated to this cause. The SNM have taken a positive step and are hoping to provide the above bilingual materials nationally to as many schools as possible.
We therefore require sponsors for this much needed task.
Cost per school: 30.00

Famous Sikh Women Calendars

Calender   Calender

During the tricenterary celebration year of the Khalsa, the SNM was the only Sikh organisation that celebrated the birthday of the Mother of Khalsa, - Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, by holding a Keertan Darbar. A calendar in her name, was released for the first time in Sikh history. 15 000 calendars for the year 2000 were distributed free all over the country with the generous donation of KTC Edibles.

For the year 2002 two calendars of Mata Sahib Kaur and Mata Tripta Ji were produced and distributed free all over the country with the generous donations of the businesses and the Gurdwaras.

For the year 2003 10.000 calendars of Mata Bhag Kaur were produced and distributed free all over the country. The funds were collected by Sikh Nari Manch Choir by performing bilingual Keertan in Gurdwaras, homes and interfaith events.

For the year 2004 the Sikh Nai Manch is going to produce a calendar in Mata Khivi Ji's name. She is the only women in the history of religions that has been mentioned in the holy scripture of Sikhs.

To produce these calendars we need your donations or sponsorships for calendars to be printed in your firm's name.
Cost per thousand. 150.00 approximately

Bilingual Gurbani Cassette

Bilingual Gurbani Cassette

This cassette is the first of its kind in Sikh history. Five Shabds of Gurbani are sung in the original text Punjabi and then the translated lyrics are sung in English. The words of the Shabds are printed in the inlay in both languages. This cassette is very popular amongst the younger generation, it helps to break the barriers between faiths and creates mutual understanding.

We would like to thank five very generous Gursikh devotees who have already sponsored 5000 cassettes, however we require further sponsors to continue this much desired work.
Cost per five hundred: 250.00 per thousand 500.00

Prominent Sikh Women's Exhibition

The SNM believes in raising the awareness and thus promoting the role of Sikh female role models within the Sikh faith. To this end, the SNM have celebrated the days of prominent Sikh historical women by organising Keertan Darbars and displaying exhibition of prominent Sikh women.

Since October 1999, Mata Sahib Kaur, Mata Gujri Ji, Mata Bhag Kaur, Mata Tripta Ji and Sikh Women Martyrs' days have been celebrated in different Gurdwaras through out the UK. We would encourage all Gurdwara committees to allocate at least one Sunday per year, in dedication to the memory of the prominent historical women. The Sikh Nari Manch celebrates Mata Sahib Kaur Ji's Remembrance Day in October every year and will continue to do so.
